Married Melodies: First Look

After my bridal party finished getting ready and Mr. Warbs' crew finished lacing up their Chuck Taylors, we all headed to the venue. The bridal party rode in a shuttle provided by the hotel and Mr. Warbs and his groomsmen piled into his dad's car. During the short drive, two things happened simultaneously in both vehicles.

We both freaked the f#*@ out.

As we rounded a curve climbing up into the hill, I yelled "OH MY GOD! I forgot the marriage license!" The license had been left behind in the hotel room. I guess I freaked everyone out, including the driver who hit the brakes for dramatic effect.

A little ways down the road behind us, Mr. Warbs said, "Sh@#, I forgot my vows!" His dad said, "Well, we're not going back, we're already running late. So you better start writing!" Ha!

After I finished kicking myself, I asked the bridal party which one of our friends was still at the hotel. We were able to get ahold of two of our friends who talked the hotel into letting them into my room to grab the license and meet us at the venue. Thanks for saving the day, Jazzy and Jo!

Meanwhile, Mr. Warbs frantically rewrote his vows on his cell phone. When he finally arrived at the venue, he e-mailed the vows to our coordinator who printed them out for him. How freaking crazy is it that we both forgot something major on the day of our wedding? Crisis averted, but we were both feeling pretty frazzled heading into our first look. Especially me.

The Warblers: somewhere between a married couple and big losers.

When we were both finally ready, our photographers set us up for the big reveal. As I headed over to where Mr. Warbs' was waiting a million thoughts were running through my head. Would he like my dress? Should I tell him about the marriage license snafu now or later? OMG, what if I cried? But as soon as I was able to see his back, just his back, all of my questions melted away.

I understand why most couples choose not to do a first look, I really do. But in that moment when Mr. Warbs turned around and looked at me for the first time as his bride, I was so happy that we had decided to do it. Earlier I had been a nervous wreck, but as soon as I saw my future husband, I started to calm down. For three years, he had always been able to make me feel better whether I was nervous, sad, sick or unsure of myself. He had always been there for me because he was my rock. With him by my side, I knew the rest of the day would be a piece of cake.

We both confessed our blunders, laughed about it, and that was that. What can I say? We're more alike that I thought! I didn't feel nervous anymore, I was just ready to get married. Before we knew it, it was time for our pre-wedding portraits!

Tell me Hive, did you forget something big on your wedding day?

Married Melodies: Let's Hear It for the Boy

While I was anxiously getting ready, Mr. Warbs had a much more casual morning with his men. Since, I obviously wasn't around to hang out with the guys, I decided to let him speak to the Hive about his experience. Also, instead of writing a blog post, I get to eat a brownie!

Just kidding. I'm obviously going to eat MULTIPLE brownies.

Without further ado, here is Mr. Warbs' take on our wedding day!

Wedding day. Wow. Something you always dream of, but never expect to happen. It's such a intimidating thing to imagine and go through. You are spending your life with someone. No more leaving the toilet seat up. No more gaming all night. No more leaving clothes all over the house.....well lets not go that far, I'm still a guy after all!

Mr. Warbs' two cousins.

Mr. Warbs' dad and best man.

So while I don't have my wife's gift for writing and storytelling, I will keep this brief, but hopefully insightful. The person who mattered the most to me was my father who just happened to be my best-man. He showed me what love is when I was young. He always took care of my mother and that left a impression on me. I only hope that I'm half the man he is and if I am, then Mrs. Warbler and myself will have an amazing marriage.

Sneak peek of MOH J5 helping Mr. Warbs with his cufflinks before our first look.

I hope you all enjoy our photos. They didn't take many, I dress fast and to be honest having three people with cameras watching you is creepy and scary! That hasn't happened since I made that film with.....just kidding honey! Please don't hurt me!

Anyway, hope you enjoyed this, and it was a pleasure to finally introduce myself to the Hive!

Mr.  Warbler

Married Melodies: Feeling Very Bridal

The morning of our wedding day, I woke up early and checked the weather. Clear as a bell! Then it hit me: after fifteen months of planning, my wedding day was finally here! I was finally going to get to see all of my planning come to fruition. All of a sudden I couldn't wait and I wanted to get married immediately. Too bad it was only 5AM!

After eating a light breakfast, jumping up and down on my bed, showering and finishing up my vows I made my rounds to wake up the bridal party. Most of us had rooms on the same floor, so I went door to door demanding that everyone get showered and head over to my room to get ready. I was kind of a brat, but my family has a reputation for being a wee bit tardy. Thankfully, everybody got a move on and before I knew it, my make-up artist and videographer had arrived! I only had to wait a little longer before I could get fancied up with these little things:

After our makeup was done, my big Sis (BM Gemini) went to work on our hair. The photographer arrived after this, so there's no photos, but if you want to watch me get all done up, check out our wedding video! I was so anxious to get into my dress and get over to the venue for the first look, that I took out my curlers early. Which ended up coming back to bite me in the ass, because my curls completely fell out by the end of the night. But, I was determined not to keep my man waiting!

Yup. They're LAUGHING at me.

Once I was finally in my dress and saw everyone's reaction, I started to get a little misty eyed. These were the people who had watched me grow from a little girl into an almost married woman in the blink of an eye. I looked around the room and tried to imagine myself in their eyes. Thankfully, my niece started making jokes and reminded me that I'm a rock, I don't cry!

Mama Warbler getting fresh with that garter!

Let me tell you something. No matter how prepared and "ready" you think you are to get married, you will still probably have a mini freak out. None of my wedding planning prepared me for the enormity that was my wedding day. Before I knew it, it was time to head to the venue to see my fiancĂ© one last time! After I finished getting ready, I flitted around the room making sure that I didn't forget anything.

Up next: The guys get ready and...I forgot something.
