Married Melodies: Feeling Very Bridal

The morning of our wedding day, I woke up early and checked the weather. Clear as a bell! Then it hit me: after fifteen months of planning, my wedding day was finally here! I was finally going to get to see all of my planning come to fruition. All of a sudden I couldn't wait and I wanted to get married immediately. Too bad it was only 5AM!

After eating a light breakfast, jumping up and down on my bed, showering and finishing up my vows I made my rounds to wake up the bridal party. Most of us had rooms on the same floor, so I went door to door demanding that everyone get showered and head over to my room to get ready. I was kind of a brat, but my family has a reputation for being a wee bit tardy. Thankfully, everybody got a move on and before I knew it, my make-up artist and videographer had arrived! I only had to wait a little longer before I could get fancied up with these little things:

After our makeup was done, my big Sis (BM Gemini) went to work on our hair. The photographer arrived after this, so there's no photos, but if you want to watch me get all done up, check out our wedding video! I was so anxious to get into my dress and get over to the venue for the first look, that I took out my curlers early. Which ended up coming back to bite me in the ass, because my curls completely fell out by the end of the night. But, I was determined not to keep my man waiting!

Yup. They're LAUGHING at me.

Once I was finally in my dress and saw everyone's reaction, I started to get a little misty eyed. These were the people who had watched me grow from a little girl into an almost married woman in the blink of an eye. I looked around the room and tried to imagine myself in their eyes. Thankfully, my niece started making jokes and reminded me that I'm a rock, I don't cry!

Let me tell you something. No matter how prepared and "ready" you think you are to get married, you will still probably have a mini freak out. None of my wedding planning prepared me for the enormity that was my wedding day. Before I knew it, it was time to head to the venue to see my fiancĂ© one last time! After I finished getting ready, I flitted around the room making sure that I didn't forget anything.

Up next: The guys get ready and...I forgot something.

We're Back!

Hey there, Hive! Mrs. Warbler here.

We got married!!!

Guest photo

The day started off pretty touch and go, but in the end it was the best wedding I've ever been to. I know I'm biased, but all of our guests said the same thing! There was just so much love and every single person invited, helped make our wedding what it was.

While I'm waiting for the pro photos go get back, I have a few little details to share with you including my dress reveal (um, check!), last minute surprises, how married life is awesome and the 1,400 photos we took during our Hawaiian honeymoon. OK, maybe just the first hundred.

Love, love, love

Why Get Married?

A friend asked me this question last week. Why am I getting married? Mr. Warbler and I already live together (in sin), we share finances and we both are in agreement that we're not having any children. Getting married won't change anything in our lives, so why bother?

My friend makes a lot of sense. But marriage does change your relationship. I've seen it happen to my parents, my siblings and we've all seen it happen to celebrities. I don't know if being married adds pressure to a relationship or reminds you of your impending mortality, but there's a reason 50% of marriages end in divorce. I think being married forces couples to be openly honest about all of the things they might have been hiding while dating. And the truth isn't always pretty. It's often ugly and unwanted.

I believe there are plenty of reasons to get married. People get married for financial reasons, for security, because the condom broke (hey, it happens) and sometimes people even get married for love. Lucky for me I fall into that last category.

Why am I getting married? I never seriously thought about marriage before I met Mr. Warbler. Sure I imagined a wedding, flowers and a beautiful dress, but I never gave a second thought to a marriage. I have a handsome, caring, hilarious man in my life who gets me. He knows when I pretend like I don't want ice cream but am secretly DYING for a scoop. He knows when I need to cry and when I need to laugh. I couldn't really ask for anything more than that.

Getting married won't change any of that. But to me it's the final step in solidifying all of that. There's something beautiful about being able to look into his eyes and know that he belongs to me and I belong to him. Besides how could I not marry a man who will try this hard to make me laugh?
